Excal

Well, what an interesting weekend that was. Denise and I ended up leaving about 7:30am and made great time to Lockhart. We set up quickly, ran into town for a few supplies, and then enjoyed the rest of the afternoon, evening, and night. Poor Denise couldn't drink or eat much due to have a few teeth removed on Wednesday. Bret finally got to faire (after going up and down the wrong road) and I ended up turning in a bit early while he went and played. Denise went to bed before all of us, due to some wonderful pain pills.

Saturday was a bit warmer than I would have liked, but we still had a nice time. I sure did miss all the shade trees at the old Excal site. After Denise had her baked potato and Bret finally got out of the Chaos jail, we headed back up to camp to relax and so that Bret and I could eat lunch. What do we find when we get there, but someone has put their tent up in front of us. And I mean DIRECTLY in front of us. The back of their tent was at the edge of our EZ Up. I couldn't believe how inconsiderate they were! There was plenty of room in other places, but no, they had to block us in and remove our path to the port-a-potties. Oh, and they had kids. Kids that were screaming about candy. We put on Blue October, cranked it up, and tired to enjoy the rest of our afternoon. Denise and I ended up taking naps later in the afternoon. Saturday night was a fun night of drinking and hanging out with friends - old and new.

Denise, of course, was up bright and early Sunday morning, which was a good thing. Once Bret and I started to stir, she told us that a storm was headed our way and that we needed to pack up camp. Tear down was quick and we swung inside faire so Bret could look at a few shops and to say goodbye to friends. We hit some nasty weather in Austin but after that it was clear sailing. We headed straight to Lee Harvey's (a dive bar in Dallas) to see Truett and get some yummy burgers. Wilma followed us there and Bast showed up for a bit too.

All in all, not a bad weekend. I was happy, I was pissed, I survived the nasty toilets.  I'm house sitting for my sister this week so unpacking will have to wait until next.

I'm not much of a blogger, but I'll do my best to post from time to time. I'm not as witty as Judy and Scorn, so don't expect much from them. If I do post, it will be random, mundane stuff.

I hope to see everyone at Excal tomorrow!

    *hugs*
